Projects
Flinders Peak Water’s flagship project is the FoodSecure Melbourne food bowl precinct west of Melbourne, Australia – a world-leading project creating a 20,000 hectare newly-irrigated recycled water food bowl.
It offers major economic, environmental and planning benefits along the way: it keeps Melbourne stocked with locally-grown food and it stops the dumping of around 65 billion litres of treated sewage annually into Melbourne’s fragile Port Philip Bay marine ecosystem.
FoodSecure Melbourne has been designed in partnership with growers themselves; a strong and accountable grower water co-operative structure prevents water speculation, keeps water prices low and locks in environmental benefits. The project is delivered without cost to the taxpayer.
FoodSecure Melbourne is under investment review by the Victorian Government. You can learn more about FoodSecure Melbourne by downloading the Grower Alliance brochure attached here.
